
The project “Legal Guardianship of Children is a Shared Right” is a civil initiative that aims to advocate for the amendment of legal provisions related to guardianship over children in the Moroccan Family Code. It seeks to ensure fairness and equality between mothers and fathers, in alignment with the constitutional, social, and legal transformations taking place in Morocco.
The project is implemented by the Empowering Society for Youth Association, in partnership with legal and political actors. It adopts a participatory approach based on training, consultation, and advocacy.
Project Objectives:
Raise public awareness about the shared nature of legal guardianship over children.
Empower civil society actors with legal and advocacy tools.
Foster public and institutional debate on the articles of the Family Code related to guardianship.
Produce concrete proposals to amend legal texts in a way that ensures the best interest of children and guarantees justice between both parents.



Project Activities:
– Organizing a national conference on fairness in legal guardianship, with the participation of legal experts, professionals, and media representatives.
– Consultative meetings with political and human rights stakeholders.
– A training session for 20 civil society actors to strengthen their knowledge of the legal framework of guardianship.
– Leading an advocacy campaign to raise awareness and influence decision-makers on the need for equal guardianship rights.
– Producing digital content (4 video capsules and educational posts) for awareness-raising on social media.
– Drafting an advocacy memorandum with recommendations for amending the legal provisions governing guardianship.

Producing a finalized advocacy memorandum to be submitted as part of ongoing consultations on the reform of the Family Code.
